SHORT HILLS, NJ – U.S. Senate candidate for New Jersey Shirley Maia-Cusick issued the following statement in response to New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s comments on the migrant crisis at a Town Hall on Wednesday: Mayor Adams’s hypocrisy on the border crisis is disgraceful. The same Eric Adams who declared in 2021 that New York City ‘will remain a sanctuary city’ under his watch now says that the migrant influx will ‘destroy’ it. Last week, the Biden Administration offered Adams a plan to ship thousands of migrants to Atlantic County– needlessly overwhelming New Jersey communities. We cannot let the Biden-Menendez immigration catastrophe and its enablers continue to use migrants as political pawns while turning around and playing the victim card against a disaster of their own creation. Shirley Maia-Cusick is an immigrant and self-made successful business owner of an immigration consulting firm in Short Hills, New Jersey. She is the leading Republican candidate set to replace disgraced Senator Bob Menendez. Maia-Cusick will become the first woman and Latina to represent New Jersey in the U.S. Senate.
