SHORT HILLS, NJ: U.S. Senate candidate Shirley Maia-Cusick issued the following statement today in response to Joe Biden’s unconscionable response to the Maui wildfire disaster:
“My heart goes out to the families and friends of those who have tragically passed away in Maui due to the devastating wildfires. I pray for the estimated 1,000 individuals who are still missing and hope that they will soon be reunited with their loved ones.
Unfortunately, we have a President who is more concerned about his taxpayer-funded vacation time than actually doing his job. How generous of him to take a break from his $18 million dollar luxury vacation rental to quickly tour the wildfire damage! Soon, he will be back vacationing while hundreds of homeless families struggle to find necessities.
It is disturbing how this Administration has been swift to pour aid into other countries, securing their borders and fighting their wars, while refusing to help its own citizens. This Administration has a proven record of putting Americans last. We need strong leaders who will put our citizen’s needs first—always,” said Maia-Cusick.
Maia-Cusick is an immigrant and self-made successful business owner of an immigration consulting firm in Short Hills, New Jersey. She is a proud wife, mother, and grandmother of six. Maia-Cusick is the leading Republican candidate set to replace the disgraceful Senator, Bob Menendez, who finds himself yet again under another criminal federal investigation.
