SHORT HILLS, NJ. – New Jersey Senate candidate Shirley Maia-Cusick released the following statement today on the imminent expiration of Title 42:
“I am totally against the lifting of Title 42 during this time of crisis at the border. The refusal to extend Title 42 is unsafe, irresponsible and will result in a surge of illegal crossings, hurting both Americans and migrants. The Biden-Menendez border policies are unsustainable. My opponent, Senator Bob Menendez, released the “Menendez Plan,” proposing an impractical asylum system without respect for the rule of law. My plan for immigration reform starts with closing our border and focusing on the millions of illegal immigrants currently living in our country without any path to legalization.”
Maia-Cusick is an immigrant and successful business owner of an immigration consulting firm in Short Hills, New Jersey. She recently filed her candidacy to run for the United States Senate. She is the leading Republican candidate set to replace the most corrupt politician in New Jersey’s history, Bob Menendez.
